LITTLE-KNOWN STORIES OF THOSE WHO SACRIFICED THEIR LIVES IN THE FIGHT AGAINST OPPRESSION.
After the 1969 death of a guard at Soledad Prison, George was charged his his murder-along with Fleeta Drumgo & John Clutchette. The beating death of the guard had occurred only days after the murder of three inmates, by a prison tower guard. If convicted, Jackson, Jackson, Drumgo & Clutchette would have been sentenced to death. Two days before the trial was set to begin, George Jackson was assassinated by a tower guard inside San Quentin Prison. Some reports allege that he was attempting to escape, while others imply that a mass rebellion had taken place. Reading & Study of George Jackson's two critically-acclaimed books, "Soledad Brother" & "Blood In My Eye," are strongly encouraged. He, along with Khatari Gaulden, shared prominent roles with both the Black Panther Party & Black Guerrilla Family. Khatari Gaulden would be assassinated, in San Quentin's prison infirmary, in August 1978. By all accounts, Gaulden had taken up the mantle of continuing Jackson's work.
