ADAM CLAYTON POWELL JR.
Adam Clayton Powell Jr. would be re-elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1968; and a year later, The U.S Supreme Court would find that the move to remove him from Congress was unconstitutional. Unfortunately Powell's health was now in decline; and after losing to Congressman Charlie Rangel in 1970, he would retire. Adam Clayton Powell would pass away in 1972, in the Bahamas. A flamboyant & classy gentleman, Powell earned degrees from the prestigious Colgate & Columbia Universities. He would also have an eleven year marriage to the beautiful & talented jazz singer Hazel Scott.
