Prior to coaching, Todd Bowles played Safery for eight NFL seasons-most of which for The Washington Redskins, where he won a Super Bowl Ring in 1988.
News Networks have widely reported the New York Jets acquisition of Wide Receiver Brandon Marshall from The Chicago Bears, followed by the even bigger news that cornerbacks Darrelle Revis & Antonio Cromartie would be returning to home for the 2015 Season, but few know anything about The Jets new Head Coach Todd Bowles. Quietly a force behind one of the league's best defenses, for the past two seasons, this Bill Parcell's pupil was one of the hottest names out there after Black Monday (the first day after the final NFL Regular Season Game/When an average of four to eight coaches will be sent packing each year). Bowles has come a long way from his days as Defensive Coordinator & Secondary Coach at Morehouse College in 1997. He also spent two years, in the same role at Grambling State University, before being hired on as an assistant coach for the New York Jets in 2000. From there he made stops with The Cleveland Browns & Dallas Cowboys, before being elevated to the title of Assistant Head Coach for The Miami Dolphins from 2008 to 2011. When Tony Sparano was fired in 2011, Bowles tool over as Interim Head Coach and finished with a 2-1 Record. Enduring a brief & tumultuous year on a fast-sinking Philadelphia Eagles ship, Todd Bowles would again rise to be a Hot Name upon taking the Defensive Coordinator reigns for The Arizona Cardinals. In spite of the loss of Defensive talents such as Darnell Dockett, Karlos Dansby, Daryl Washington & John Abraham, Bowles took a Defensive that previously finished 28th against the Run & finished 1st a year later. Hailed as "a genius when it comes to personnel and figuring out what opponents are going to do and trying to stop them,” Todd Bowles would be selected as The A.P. (Associated Press) Assistant Coach of the Year for The 2014 Season. Originally rumored to be on his way to taking the Head Coaching job for the Atlanta Falcons, Bowles was never allowed to leave The Jets Facility without a contract. He was clearly their Guy! While one has to admit that he is inheriting a very unstable situation at Quarterback, it will be very interesting to see what T. Bowles can do with a Defense that now features Darrelle Revis, Antonio Cromartie, Buster Skrine & Dee Milner at Corner. This of course goes along with a 3-4 Front that already featured Big Muhammad Wilkerson, Sheldon Richardson, Demario Davis, and David Harris. And we still have the Draft coming up just 47 days from now. Prior to coaching, Todd Bowles played Safery for eight NFL seasons-most of which for The Washington Redskins, where he won a Super Bowl Ring in 1988.
