Over the last few years the stigma around healthy eating has been replaced with a bit of an enthusiastic buzz. For most people this simply meant cutting out some of the more harmful foods and methods of cooking; while others saw the journey for wellness lead to an outright Plant-Based/Vegan Lifestyle. To be a Vegan is to refrain from using or digesting any animal-based products. Vegans do not eat any meat or dairy products; and for most, it is a priority to avoid wearing animal skin outerwear (leather, furs, etc.). It is truly a state of mind and a state of being; and is surely not for the undisciplined. The availability and convenience of just grabbing something to eat can be quite the challenge for those not living in certain parts of California or NYC. While there are now more options than ever, most Vegans like me must cook and plan their meals ahead of time. And still for Black Vegans, most restaurants simply lack that soulful taste that we grew up accustomed to. Fortunately, there is a growing wave a Black Entrepreneurs on the scene who are blazing a path that provides wellness with a more flavorful touch of soul. One of those trailblazers is Mariah Ragland, owner of Radical Rabbit.
“Using two hands and a heart of love, Radical Rabbit was created to support a harmonious world.”
Radical Rabbit offers everything from homemade plant-based goods, to weekly meal plans, to catering special events, to Sunday Soul Food Deliveries (my personal favorite)! You can often find her working the scene at events like The Nashville VegFest or The Good Neighbor Day Festival. She not only serves up great food; she also shows a passion for educating the masses. I’ve had the pleasure of ordering food from Radical Rabbit multiple times. The menu is creative and constantly evolving. Plus, she is the first person to offer a vegan alternative to eating fish! Yeaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!! And if that isn’t enough, she has the cutest little girl in the world right at her side learning from mommy.
If you are in Nashville, Tennessee, or any surrounding county, I strongly recommend checking out what Radical Rabbit has to offer. Who knew healthy food could be so delicious!
