USC had already lost 7 of their last 11 games, going back to last season; and the two losses this year came to perennial Pac-12 doormats Washington State & Arizona State. The Trojans began the season ranked No. 24 in Preseason Polls; but dropped out of the Top 25 by Week 3. Kiffin's departure still likely has more to do with last's year's late season skid-that saw the team lose 5 out of its last 6 games. That included a 21-7 loss to Georgia Tech in the Sun Bowl. Fans and media alike never forgave Kiffin for that-especially being that USC began 2012 Ranked #1 in Pre-Season Polls, only to finish the season un-ranked. Afeat not accomplished since the 1964 Ole Miss Rebels disastrous season.
Kiffin, who replaced Pete Carroll as Head Coach, will likely be succeeded by Ed Orgeron in the interim. And the band is already being tuned up for a run at Stanford's David Shaw (good luck with that. Lol). The team is currently ranked Dead Last, among Pac 12 teams, in any stat that matters; and the potential season-ending injury to Wide Receiver Marqise Lee won't help matters either. Current Denver Broncos Defensive Coordinator Jack Del Rio has also been mentioned as a preferred candidate.
