As we all already should know, Real Hip Hop is not played on mainstream radio anymore. But in the case of The Wu Tang Clan it goes a little more deep. As Inspectah Deck explains in The Vlad TV video below, what may be the most popular group in Hip Hop History found itself blackballed by what may be the powerful radio station in Hip Hop History. Deck goes in and elaborates on being placed in a no-win situation in choosing between performing at Hot 97's Famous Summer Jam Concert, or staying in Europe on tour with Rage Against The Machine. In the end it came out as a double-negative for the WTC & a ban that lasted for roughly ten years. Listen & enjoy.

"Fame is Fake, and it Fades..."
If you've spent the last few months under a rock you've missed a oft-times volatile public campaign, coming from several of Hip Hop's Pioneers, against what is now termed as "Culture Vultures." That is Immoral Opportunists, from OUTSIDE of the Culture, making Millions & Millions EXPLOITING a Board Room-Manufactured Bastardization of Hip Hop. The the loudest voices (Afrika Bambaataa, Brand Nubian's Lord Jamar & former Rocafella Co-Owner Dame Dash) had been marginalized as being bitter or out of touch; but ish got real when Hot 97's Peter Rosenberg disrespectfully insulted recent Rock & Roll Hall Fame Inductee & Hip Hop Icon Chuck D of Public Enemy. Not known to grant many interviews, Chuck D (along with Bomb Squad Member Keith Shocklee) FINALLY agreed to sit down for a chat with The Combat Jack Show. What comes from that is three hours of Wisdom on Hip Hop's Pioneers & "Game Changers," what could happen if all categories of Hip Hop would work in Unison, Respecting Hip Hop History & Culture, Peter Rosenberg, Lazy Record Label Execs, today's music teaching the youth to be disrespectful, Hip Hop being used as the "New COINTELPRO," raising the Talent Level in Hip Hop, growing up in the 60's & 70's, gaining Knowledge of Self as a youth, How he reluctantly became an emcee & So Much More... Check the link below for the full interview. DOWNLOAD IT & SHARE so that we can take our CULTURE back! http://thecombatjackshow.com/network/audio/the-chuck-d-episode-feat-keith-shocklee/#.U8XqdvldXr4 The Combat Jack Show is known for its many great interviews with many of Hip Hop's Legends & today's Stand-Out artists; but this conversation with Freddie Foxxx (aka Bumpy Knuckles) rates as one of the best I've heard. We're almost three weeks late with this one; but it needed to be posted anyway. In this installment, bumpy Knucks delivers raw stories & perspectives on his close relationship with Tupac, working with Big Daddy Kane & Kool G Rap, being black-balled in the industry, label drama, schooling young cats on how to read their contracts, being the first to speak on "Culture Vultures," Chuck D's influence on Hip Hop Culture & History, the Unspoken Dynamics if the Nas vs Jay Z Diss War, his transition from the streets & spiritual growth, infamous rumors pertaining to getting out of shady record deals & mad stories from his time with The Paid In Full Posse, Boogie Down Productions, Flavor Unit, The Gangstarr Foundation & More at the link below... http://thecombatjackshow.com/network/audio/the-freddie-foxxx-episode/#.U8GgGfldXr4
*KNOW YOUR HISTORY & RESPECT THE PIONEERS* As much as today's "Mainstream" "Rap" Music is filled with Raunchy & Misogynistic lyrics, and sadly now accepted as the norm, it's hard to imagine that many of the originators of that style faced all forms of legal harassment just 20 years ago. While most faced efforts to have their product kept off of record shelves & T.V. (Ice-T, NWA, Too Short, etc), others like Miami's 2 Live Crew faced the threat of arrest-simply for performing their songs. In retrospect, the ordeal that Luther Campbell & his group mates had to go through only made them more famous. Unfortunately though, there was at least one casualty in the so-called conservative war for decency in american music. His name was Charles Freeman. Charles Freeman was the owner of the E-C Records in Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and he dared to defy Florida Laws against selling "Obscene Music." Just two days after U.S. District Judge Jose Gonzalez ruled that 2 Live Crew's Album was consider to be legally obscene, Freeman was arrested by undercover police officers executing a sting operation. Having sold almost 25 copies of the album, faced one year in jail & heavy fines. A few months later, a judge would refuse would deny attempts by Freeman's attorneys to present evidence proving that the album content did not defy obscenity laws. Charles Freeman would in turn be convicted & fined $1,000 (one must note that Luther Campbell & his group would be acquitted of similar charges that same year).
While awaiting trial, E-C Records continued to sell the album; and would ultimately sell a reported 1000 copies; the profit would not be enough. beset with legal fees galore, Charles Freeman would be forced to close down the very store he sought to protect. The stress of the ordeal took its toll on the married father of four children. It was reported, at that time, that he was suffering from ulcers & a lack of sleep. Within a year, Freeman had turned to selling drugs to off-set the income lost from his legally run business enterprise. Ironically, it was a life of crime that Charles Freeman sought to escape when he moved to Florida-from Brooklyn, New York a few years earlier. In July 1991 Freeman would be indicted, under Federal Law, of Conspiracy To Distribute Crack Cocaine. In 1992, he was convicted & sentenced to 18 years in Federal Prison. No information has been found, as to his current living conditions. SA-ROC feat DAVID BANNER: "THE WHO?" There's a saying that goes something like "good Hip Hop makes everything better." And it's the refreshingly powerful lyrics of a New & Improved David Banner and Lovely Lyrical Assassin Sa-Roc that made this Dee Jay's Day today! D. Banner leads off the track with a beautiful rhyme about the plot to assassinate The Legendary Patrice Lumumba & the resulting consequences brought down upon The congo during the 1960's. Oddly enough, Sa-Roc steers slightly away from the conscious subject matter, in favor of a more Battle Rhyme style; but trust me she does not disappoint! But enough of my rambling, enjoy the video... " On January 17th 1961 I was beaten then tortured then murdered by guns (Who am I) - the firing squad The CIA the Mi6 the Belgians were in on it (who am I) Mubutu too tried to kill the cause by killing me silly see because the flesh dies only to set the soul free and it landed in this MC manifest destiny but only for the Africans -
