Tell "Our President" To Keep AmeriKKKa's #HandsOffAssata!!!

Somewhere in the midst of mourning, and soaking in all of the tributes to Our Brother Muhammad Ali, news about another courageous freedom fighter made a purposely small blip on the news radar.  It seems that all may just not be so well for our sister Assata Shakur down in Cuba.  Safely residing under political asylum in Cuba, for the last 30+ years, reports are now surfacing that The Castro Regime and The Obama Administration are in secret talks to return her to America.  According to The New York Post, and a few other news outlets, negotiations center around swapping assata Shakur for alleged Cuban Spy Ana Montes.

For those unaware of just who Assata Shakur is, Assata was a Black Panther Party-Affliliated Member Of The Black Liberation Army.  Wrongfully convicted in 1977, for a murder that she would have been physically unable to commit (It's pretty hard to shoot someone with an arm that you had been shot in).  Forensics experts testified that her hands were in the "Surrender Position" when she was shot; and she suffered some degree of paralysis as a result.  Nevertheless, she was sentenced to Life in Prison for the 1973 murder of a New Jersey State Trooper.  Assata was convicted by an All White Jury, and prosecuted by the media long before her trial.  If you've ever read her biography "Assata,"  even the most close-minded detractor against The Black Power Movement would agonize at the treatment she received between the time of her arrest & eventual escape from Clinton correctional in 1979 (being left in the morgue-next to her fallen comrad Zayd Shakur, being abused in the hospital & then placed in a Men's Prison, etc.).  In 1979 Assata Shakur was liberated by a team of comrads, who took three Prison Guards hostage to secure her safe exit from the prison.  The guards were released unharmed, and Assata Shakur moved from Safe House to Safe House until eventually being granted Political asylum to Cuba five years later.  Today she sits with a $2 Million Dollar Bounty on her Head, and is listed on The FBI's Most wanted Terrorist List, though she has never committed or conspired in any conspiracies against any country.  To me though, she is a HERO!  She personifies every bit of the definition of Freedom, Self-Determination, Justice & Power.  Her writings, oratory, and simple continual existence in a free state are ever so inspiring...  May The Spirit Of The Ancestors protect her; but WE MUST ALSO DO OUR PART.  Hit up "Our President" on Facebook and Twitter ( https://www.facebook.com/potus/?fref=ts  https://twitter.com/POTUS ) and let him know that those that elected him do not support this action.  Tell Cuba and The P.O.T.U.S. to leave Assata alone.  #HandsOffAssata And #FreeAllPoliticalPrisoners

"WE CHARGE GENOCIDE" IN 1951: REMEMBERING PAUL ROBESON'S PETITION AGAINST AMERICAN RACIAL VIOLENCE

6/2/2015

"Out of the inhuman black ghettos of American cities, out of the cotton
plantations of the South, comes this record of mass slayings on the basis
of race, of lives deliberately warped and distorted by the willful crea
tion of conditions making for premature death, poverty and disease. It
is a record that calls aloud for condemnation, for an end to these terrible
injustices that constitute a daily and ever-increasing violation of the
United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the
Crime of Genocide."

"We Charge Genocide" is the title of the book-length petition presented by Paul Robeson & William Patterson to The United Nations, demanding relief from the almost 100 years of terrorism that Black People in america were being forced to endure.  The petition documents hundreds of the lynchings that had taken place each year since the end of slavery.  The document charges that more than 10,000 Blacks had been lynched since 1965 (the true number will never be known;) and that the American government had played a role in allowing these crimes to happen without consequence.  Eloquently written, meticulously detailed, and covering many bases, this document provided an undeniable case on behalf of the Black Man, Woman & Child in america & abroad.  Not wanting to let any momentum to be allowed from this movement, the various elements of the U.S. Government (FBI, Congress, etc) did all that the could to make life difficult for Paul robeson and William Patterson.  And while there is a wealth of information out there on Paul robeson, most discussions on the beginnings of the Civil Rights Movement conveniently leave the work of these men out of the discussion.  Learn More, and carry on the fight.
"In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts
committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical,
racial or religious group, as such:
(a) Killing members of the group;
(b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
(c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated
to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
(d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
(e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group."

REVISING, ALREADY REVISED, TEXTBOOKS IN THE NAME OF PATRIOTISM

2/22/2015

Continuing with a recent trend of quietly passing legislation that seeks to bar the use of textbooks that do not follow the narrative that places The European & American as The Founders of Civilization, The Oklahoma State Legislation is now taking steps to have AP U.S. History courses removed from its State Curriculum.  Claiming that the curriculum is Negative & Unpatriotic.  Sponsored by State Representative Dan Fisher (of course he's a Republican), a pending bill would withhold funding unless there's a change to the curriculum.  Republicans deem the course subject matter to be "revisionist,"places too much emphasis on topics like slavery and the Japanese internment camps during World War II," emphasizes "what is bad about America," and paints a bad picture of America from a global sense.  I'm not sure what Kool-Aide these cats have been drinking; but these horrible things really did happen.  furthermore, I'm sure whatever is in the coursework & tests is still a watered down version.  But I guess these demons prefer to pretend that these things never happened.  Similar movements have been going down for at least the last two years in several places, including Texas, Tennessee, Georgia & Colorado.  Any curriculum that does not promote the lie of Europeans & Americans as Great civilizers, Explorers, Defenders of Freedom & The source of All Enlightenment is gonna catch fire from the far too many Republican-Controlled Local & State Governments across the country.  But a True Analysis of History shows every aspect of that ideal to be false.  Murderous exploiters is what they have actually been.  And like I said before, whatever truth one may find in these History & Geography courses is still greatly watered down too.

KNOW YOUR HISTORY: The Colfax Massacre, White Backlash & The Supreme Court

On this day in History, April 13th 1873, a large-scale race riot took place that would change the course of American History, Government, Politics, and Race Relations.  THE COLFAX MASSACRE took place in colfax, Louisiana on Easter Sunday of 1973, when the KKK, WHITE LEAGUE, and groups of both Former UNION & CONFEDERATE SOLDIERS attacked The Grant Parish Courthouse-which was controlled & protected by the local Black Citizens of Colfax.  At issue was tension over The Reconstruction-Era gains of former slaves, a disputed Gubernatorial Election, the rights to vote, Stand as EQUALS with those that once held them in Bondage, and live Freely under the 14th & 15th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution, and resentment against the Federal government.  As a result, White Southern Democrats formed their own "Shadow Government" & Army geared toward maintaining control over their Land and Government.  Violence against both Blacks & White Republicans quickly had become the norm; and it all culminated to a fever pitch on Easter Sunday 1873.  The nearly All-Black Militia was armed; but were outnumbered and caught off guard by their more heavily armed attackers.  More than 100 Black People were murdered that day-approximately half of them were killed AFTER THEY HAD SURRENDERED!!!  Only three of the offenders were arrested, once Federal Troops had come in to TEMPORARILY Restore Order.  Each of their convictions were overturned by The Supreme Court (United States v. Cruikshank 1876).  within a very short amount of time, all political power and control of the city's bases of power would return to the hands of racist Southern Democrats (I know, sounds weird today right?); and the overall vision of the courts & Legislatures would be to  severely limit the federal government's role in protecting the newly-emancipated Black Citizens from racial Violence & Intimidation.  While there were many other incidents of this nature, most historians agree that The Colfax Massacre was ranks as the single most violent episode of Racial Violence in U.S.History.  Certainly no other incident carries the same negative ramifications in regard to the position of Law & the protection of one's Supposedly "INALIENABLE RIGHTS UNDER THE CONSTITUTION."
many of these same battles are being fought Today (under the disguise of Voter Rights Laws, Stand Your Ground, Redistricting, and the School to Prison Pipeline).  Like then, we cannot depend on the government to help.  And sadly, WE AREN'T EVEN PAYING ATTENTION.  WE MUST WAKE UP NOW, OR WE MAY NEVER HAVE ANOTHER CHANCE TO MOVE FORWARD INTO A BRIGHTER EXISTENCE.  For some, our purpose is to be in Servitude.  For many, we are a THREAT.  And they will stop at  nothing to protect what they have deemed to be theirs only.
