Wax Lyrical is defined by TTEOAN as: music created in an unreserved and highly prolific way that is pressed on vinyl, or that uses a vinyl aesthetic. For a more elaborate description of the term Wax Lyrical, check out prior posts: Vol. I, Vol. I.a, Vol. II & the Special Edition.
For this edition of Wax Lyrical, I’m taking it back to the Leftcoast, that Southern Cali region that keeps Hip Hop music true to the roots, the essence. If you’re not up on game yet, this week’s featured producer is Litespeed. Yep, he’s back at em again with something for you to chill to. A nice mellow number called Living Room. I heard some rumors that [email protected] is gonna have [email protected] put some vocals on it. We’ll see. If so, as soon as I get, like Js vs Bs, you’ll get it. That joint was superbly dope! There’s footage of the making of it and all.
I also am throwing in a real Western Theme he produced as a bonus beat-Nice to Be Old. This joint reminds me of the ending credits, or opening credits of some spaghetti western or Kung Fu overdubbed movie. When cats are strapping up, a posse riding off into the sunset, outlaws preparing to confront their enemies, martial arts masters breaking down the style they got in slow motion, all that…It’s dope, if you can’t visualize those things when you hear it, then, I don’t know, try harder until you can. Litespeed got styles. He’s offing a lot of ‘made’ producers out here now, and some from the Golden Era days. I can tell he’s getting comfortable with his sound and style of beat making as time goes on. Just the way it should be, constant elevation, or as we say, Positive Energy Always Creates Elevation (P.E.A.C.E.)
By the way, if you’re not up on what I’m talking about, then peep prior posts featuring both Procuder/Emcee/IMC Crew representative-Litespeed & Emcee-Sith. They both represent the Riverside area. This is non-Hollywood Hip Hop folks. Enjoy!
