Wax Lyrical is defined by TTEOAN as: music created in an unreserved and highly prolific way that is pressed on vinyl, or that uses a vinyl aesthetic. For a more elaborate description of the term Wax Lyrical, check out prior posts: Vol. I, Vol. I.a, Vol. II & the Special Edition.
For this week’s Wax Lyrical edition, I’m going back to the Best of lllllSOUND lllllTHERAPY CD Vol. I. The first song below is from singer-Kristen Nicole’s Serve U with DJ Vamp on the 1s & 2s. She basically runs it down to a guy on how she wants to show him her way of loving him. The Arkansas Native and MTSU alumni has a sultry and soulful voice. She’s performed at many venues in the mid-South region. Kristen’s definitely got some pipes!
The second cut, featuring DJ Vamp on the cuts and Emcee Sith: [email protected] on the Mic-Arrival (Bantu Village). It’s a nice joint, and Vamp turns it up a notch or two running doubles of it. I dig the intro of the rhyme: Take a seat lil youngin’ should whoop ya ass but Imma teach ya a lil something’. The whole song just speaks to the wackness in Hip Hop music and how to combat it through spitting proper raps over proper tracks. It’s a good listen indeed.
