Wax Lyrical is defined by TTEOAN as: music created in an unreserved and highly prolific way that is pressed on vinyl, or that uses a vinyl aesthetic. For a more elaborate description of the term Wax Lyrical, check out prior posts at following links: Vol. I, Vol. I.a, and Vol. II. This is the second volume, and the fourth installment of Wax Lyrical. Personally, I consider several songs, producers, crews, musicians, singers and emcees to be ‘Wax Lyrical’. However, I try to get the public’s opinion on it, build with the homeys if you will. Jabriel Allah & I, the EIC for the blog, consistently build on various topics, and it helps generate ideas for posts. The other homey I build with pretty heavy is [email protected]. He suggested the first crew to review for Wax Lyrical Vol. I. He sent me a joint for Wax Lyrical Vol. I.a (The Dee wk. 6: Dee Troy Eat 07/26). After hearing the joint, digging it and being like, damn, most folks have no way to hear this but they should... I decided I’d create a platform for just that. A place where good music can be heard. I decided I would have a Wax Lyrical splinter column where I highlighted similar artists that make substance based music, but get little recognition. At the end of the Wax Lyrical Vol. I.a post (07/26), I asked for music from people if it fit the format of being Wax Lyrical. I then hit up [email protected] to see if he had anymore joints he wanted to throw me, cuz at the time I was writing the rough draft, no one had submitted any music. Basically, I needed something dope to keep the column going and consistent, I figured he had a few joints and wouldn’t disappoint. He definitely came through. Big S.O. to him. Asked me how many I needed and what kind of sound, too. Told him to send me two… I was being humble, didn’t want to ask for too much. Plus, I needed a backup just in case cats was slow to submit in the upcoming weeks. He sent me 4! I liked em all, but one joint set the right tone in my opinion for what the column attempts to convey. It’s called Pop is not Hip Hop wk. 10. It's a dope joint. Title says it all. Peep it and let me know what you think…and submit your joints. Don’t be shy about it at all. I like to hear new stuff that’s dope, that I’m not up on, original sounds, and if I don’t like it, some people will. Don’t sleep and let [email protected] be the only one getting songs up...Just saying, add on… Peace Attention Artists: Want your song featured on Wax Lyrical? submit your email in the comments and I’ll get at you, or you can email me at: [email protected].
