"The Mystery Of Chessboxing" 1979
Originally released in 1979, it is a classic story of revenge; but with a slightly more complicated spin on it. As most kung fu flicks simply center around the efforts of the story's hero seeking to avenge the evil committed by a villainous figure, The Mystery of Chessboxing also weaves in a tale of the Villain's quest to avenge what he deems to have a legitimate wrong committed against himself.
The film is directed by Joseph Kuo, has been used for a number of RZA samples on various early Wu Tang Clan projects, inspired the name of the same-titled track on 1993's "Enter The Wu-Tang 36 Chambers, and is the influence behind the Emcee Moniker Ghostface Killah.
