There's that old saying that there's "Truth In Jokes." And As Eddie Griffin puts it, he just used "Michael Jackson on Crack" jokes to "Get In The Door." On this clip, from Griffin's 2008 comedy special "Freedom of Speech," Eddie catches the audience off-guard-as he breaks down his understanding of The Origins of Man, Mathematics, Melanin & several other related topics. Don;t let the laughter distract you from the SUBSTANCE. Homeboy drops some pretty heavy jewels!

Playing the roles of a No-Nonsense GODDESS, at a time when most Black Women were portrayed as Weak-Minded & Subservient, Pam Grier has spent the past 40+ Years as a living embodiment of Grace, Beauty, Style & Fire! In honor of her 65th Birthday, we decided to devote a pictorial tribute to one of the "Women We Love." Enjoy! always Front and Center to All Things Education & Culture, Our Brother Rasool M. Hashim-Ruffin of D.C. DRAMA MAGAZINE has been providing beautiful Images of What BLACK really Is-for Years... I love them in ALMOST all shapes, sizes, & hues of color. Another part of that meaning can be attributed to that desire to know where all things originate. In the case of today's post though, we look at the family lineage's of some of Hollywood's Past, Present, & Future. The union of celebrated songstress Donna Summer & Singer/Songwriter Bruce Sudano brought forth two entries to this list. I remember watching a tribute to Donna Summer on BET, a few years ago, and feeling completely mesmerized from the moment her daughters walked out on the stage. First there's the Lovely actress Brooklyn Sudano, who starred as Vanessa on Damon Wayan's My Wife & Kids. Lovely in her own right, younger sister Amanda Sudano is a Singer/Songwriter/Model. Along with her husband, Abner Ramirez, they make up the Nashville-Based Musical Duo Johnnyswim. Older Half-Sister Mimi Summer ain't bad either. Don't be surprised if she makes it on to a Top 40-Over 40 List somewhere down the line... 27 Year Old Condola Rashad is probably the ONLY good thing that came out of the six year marriage union between former NFL Player/TV Personality Ahmad Rashad & TV Mother to Millions, Phylicia Rashad. While probably most remembered for her role in the remake of Steel Magnolias, she is also an accomplished Stage Actress-nominated for a Best Featured Actress Tony Award in 2012 for her role in the play Stick Fly. Earlier this year she took on the feature role of Juliet, in the latest adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet. From my childhood years-and still to this day-Lynn Whitfield has always shined as a Standout Example of the phrase "Black Is Beautiful." And clearly that trait has been passed on to her daughter Grace Gibson. Grace is the product of the short-lived marriage between Whitfield & English Film Director Brian Gibson. Best known for her breakout performance in last year's Black Nativity, if she has anywhere near the same work ethic as her mother, we will see PLENTY of young Ms. Grace Gibson in the future... Bianca Lawson is So FINE, that this 35 year old actress has been playing the role of a teenager for the past 20 years. The daughter of 70's-80's Star Richard Lawson & Actress Denise Gordy, Bianca Lawson has an impressive list of acting credits including MTV's Teen Wolf, The Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Dawson's Creek, The Steve Harvey Show, Sister Sister, Saved By The Bell: The New Class & Much More... And last, but not least, there's The Great Mr. Quincy Jones & his Lovely Contributions to the World: Rashida Jones & Kidada Jones!!! Both born from the 16 year marriage to "Mod Squad" Actress Peggy Lipton, Kidada & Rashida have been squarely in the limelight for decades now. Kidada Jones is an accomplished Actress, Model & Fashion Designer-and was engaged to The Dearly Departed Tupac Shakur at the time of his murder. Rashida Jones’ beauty & talent have most notably graced the screens as part of the cast of shows such as Chappelle's Show, Web Therapy, The Office, Parks And Recreation & So Much More... Thanks Quincy! Honorable mention: Bria Murphy (As In Eddie)"MALCOLM GARVEY HUEY" - DEAD PREZ FT. DIVINE RBGRevolutionary-but Gangsta!!! Though initially resistant to it, I now see the science behind Dead Prez's idea of dropping Hard-Hitting Socially Conscious Lyrics over today's "Turnt-Up" Mind Killing Beats. This song actually came out in 2010; but "I Woke Up Like This!!!" Feeling a little RBG... (Sorry for the outburst). Listen, Learn, Think, Grow & ELEVATE... |
