Last night's trade, along with the free agent signing of former ATL forward Josh Smith & the return of Chauncey Billups, makes for a pretty dynamic young roster of talent that includes Centers Greg Monroe & Andre Drummond, Forwards Josh Smith & Luigi Datome, and a back-court that includes Chauncey Billups, Rodney Stuckey, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and Peyton Siva. In shaping this roster, the Pistons have placed themselves pretty close to going over the luxury tax threshold; but have at least two valuable expiring contracts that they could trade away at some point this season-or utilize the cap space in the 2014 Free Agent Bonanza.
The Pistons have also hired legendary Philadelphia 76ers point guard Maurice Cheeks to coach the team-plus they've brought in Rasheed Wallace as an assistant. Imagine the possibilities of Sheed's tutelage of Greg Monroe (16ppg/9.6rpg), Andre Drummond & Luigi Datome in Motown... The additions of Univ of Georgia guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and Univ Louisville point guard Peyton Siva look damn good on paper-especially with Chauncey there to mentor them.
Pretty excited to see what happens...
