A Grand Jury in Portsmouth, Virginia has reportedly agreed to indict now former officer Stephen Rankin on charges of first-degree murder and using a gun in a felony. 18 year old William Chapman was shot in the head & chest, outside of a Portsmouth, Virginia WalMart on back on April 22nd 2015. The Police Report alleged that he and Overseer Stephen Rankin got into a scuffle, and that Chapman came forward in an aggressive way toward the officer-resulting in him being shot twice. However, autopsy reports would eventually confirm that Chapman "showed no signs of a close-range shot, indicating that he was shot from several feet away." Chapman had been accused of shoplifting, but the autopsy report also showed that his pockets were turned inside out to show that he had not stolen anything. Overseer Rankin previously got away with the 2011 murder of Kirill Denyakin in 2011. eerily similar, he claimed that Denyakin charged toward him too-before shooting him 11 times. Let's follow this & see how the trial goes. As we all should know by now, charges don't necessarily mean conviction.

Like in the case of so many others, the questions remains... WHY WAS THE USE OF LETHAL FORCE NECESSARY? Suspected of, or maybe even guilty of, committing a crime? Yes. Armed? NO. Running away, or running around? Yes. Attacking an officer? NO! Unfortunately no one knows what possessed young Christian Taylor to go onto that car lot and do whatever he did. But even police officials, in this case, are even willing to admit that there was no reason for this young man to die. So now because we have allowed a continuous barrage of media imagery that portrays Black & Brown People as Violent and Criminal, we are now looked as animals that somehow need to be put down. And we see it happening again & again. Think about it. Dylann Roof got a bullet-proof vest and Burger King. James Eagan Holmes killed 12 people, but he was allowed to live. No officer saw fit to shoot him at the scene of his crime-and a jury felt that the death penalty would be too much. But in the same week that Christian Taylor was EXECUTED, Joseph M. Parker (click on the name for the story) assaulted seven officers in Massachusetts-but no one ever even thought about shooting him. As for Christian Taylor, his brother says that he aspired to "change the world and be the next Martin Luther King." Now someone else will have to take his place. R.I.P. While The city of Cleveland, Ohio continues to protect Cops involved in the outright EXECUTION of its Black & Brown population, it at least appears that The City of Cincinnati is seeking to take a more proactive approach. After initially refusing to release Body Camera video from the traffic stop that led to the MURDER of 43-Year-Old Samuel DuBose, officials have taken an about face in not only releasing the video, but announcing that 25-year-old officer Raymond Tensing has been charged with Murder & Voluntary Manslaughter. One must note that Tensing is a University Of Cincinnati Campus Police Officer, and not part of The Cincinnati Police Department (wondering aloud if they would have treated this crisis any differently). Tensing's Incident Report followed the usual pattern of verbiage designed to justify the execution of Our People; but we can all see from the Body Camera Video that this pig was neither dragged by Samuel DuBose's car-nor was there any form of aggression from him. This overseer was NEVER in danger, and there were other means of handling the situation. In announcing the indictment, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters noted that, even if DuBose was going to attempt to drive off, the officer had his license plate and other options would have been available to apprehend him. Deters also noted that any signs of a struggle came solely from Overseer Tensing falling after shooting Sam duBose in the head. To be clear, DuBose was pulled over because the car he was driving did not have a license plate on the front of the car, DuBose peacefully complied & communicated during the stop, and even handed over a CLOSED liquor bottle to the Overseer. Less than two minutes after being approached, Samuel DuBose was dead. IF convicted Raymond Tensing could face Life in Prison. Cincinnati has a long history of Police Misconduct, and is not far removed from The 2001 Riots that broke out after a white officer (Stephen Roach) was seen shooting an unarmed 19-year-old Timothy Thomas. So far this year, there have been 550 documented cases in which police officers have shot & killed a citizen. while many may have been justified, we can NEVER stop fighting in the memory of those that were clear EXECUTIONS! #WalterScott, #EricHarris #EricGarner #SandraBland #MikeBrown #OscarGrant #SeanBell #AmadouDiallo #TimothyRussell #Malissa Williams #PhillippeHolland #JohnCrawford #TamirRice And So Many More... |
